“Utopia” (poem)

Poem dated 3/11/2021 —

Utopia

by Noah Gallagher

I’ve thought of a way

For us all to be same

And all problems to one day be done:

We’ll turn from the books

And give back what we took

And from now on, we’ll start from Day One.

We’ll tell the same jokes,

Hate the same types of folks,

We’ll be gleefully homogenized

We’ll shout through the night

To decide what is right

And dissenters, we’ll cut out their eyes.

Oh, truth is so clear

When you rule out of fear

Why did nobody think of this yet?

He who does not repent

Will have his bones bent

And his mind and all others’ reset.

Ah, beautiful day

When they do what we say

They’ll be wary of even their breath

I think they shall find

Mandatorily kind

Union far better than death.
